Need to Study? 3 Easy-to-Access Places You Can Go Off Campus

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Do you have a pile of assignments to study for, but you’re tired of sitting in the same building day after day?
The need to study for assignments is constant, but that does not mean that the scenery must be. For students in need of a change, there are a variety of easy-to-access places off of Bellarmine’s campus that students have said are to be great for studying.
Joe Creason Park
1297 Trevilian Way
Across the street from the Louisville Zoo and a short, 10-minute walk from Bellarmine, Joe Creason Park offers a nature center, a walking trail, a tennis court, and tables scattered around the 62 acres of land. Between study sessions, students could walk the tree-lined path or visit the nature center found near the end of the park before heading back to their studies.
“(It’s) really nice. I’d find a table and bring some bug spray,” Jackie Trejo Vazquez, a junior majoring in psychology, said.
The multitude of trees in the park provide students with shade and privacy to quietly study while also having the opportunity to sit around nature.
Sunergos Coffee
1647 Norris Place
Only a 9-minute walk from Bellarmine’s campus, Sunergos is a local coffee shop that students frequent. With its comfortable atmosphere and its unique garage-style exterior, it can provide students with a change of scenery that goes beyond the normal classroom environment.
"It has a coffee shop vibe with comfortable seating, and that's peaceful," senior in psychology clinical and counseling major, Ava Alexander said.
Along with plenty of tables to study, Sunergos has a variety of affordable coffees, teas and bakery items for students to buy as they study. With prices between $2 to $8, students are sure to find something they would enjoy between study breaks.
Heine Brothers Coffee
1250 Bardstown Road
A 32-minute walk and 7-minute drive from campus, Heine Brothers is another study spot that students frequent. While this commute may be too far for students without a car, there are free TARC bus passes available through Bellarmine's Dean of Student's Office to help students get around. Students would only need to walk 10 minutes from Bellarmine's campus to reach a bus stop on Bardstown Road.
At Heine Brothers, students can study in an inviting environment filled with plants and idle chatter.
"In an environment where people are working, a lot of students study there," Lauren Frazier, a senior majoring in psychology and anthropology, said.
Studying at Heine Brothers gives students an opportunity to get out of their typical routine at Bellarmine to explore the community around them.
"I find it hard to stay focused when I stay in one place while I'm studying...so I like to move around," junior psychology major Mina Lin said.
