On the corner of Speed Avenue and Norris Place sits Sunergos Coffee. This coffee shop was established in 2003 and is a local favorite with a few different locations. The one specifically located on this corner in Deer Park is special due to its proximity to Bellarmine's campus.

Sunergos is approximately an eight-minute walk from Bellarmine’s campus, making it a perfect coffee shop for students and faculty to go to during busy and long days. Students are able to easily access quality coffee and pastries at their convenience. Whether it’s to study for the next exam or meet up with friends, Sunergos’ environment offers students comfy areas to get to work, while also offering a ping-pong table to have fun with friends.

Sophomore neuroscience major Bella Scott said:  "I've met so many amazing people within the local community and get to talk to them. Now I get to see familiar faces every time I come in here.”

Meeting people within Louisville’s community is what Sunergos is rooted in. Sunergos is Greek for “working together,” and it’s inspired by a love for the Louisville community.

Sophomore exercise science major Kate Alvis said, “I love heading over to Sunergos after my lift because it’s quick and a great spot to get my schoolwork done.”

Senior communication major Haden Wolfe said it’s a great spot for Bellarmine students to go to because of how easy it is to get there. “I really like going to Sunergos because I can walk there and get my daily walk in for the day. Plus, I don’t have to use my gas,” she said.

Not only is it a great spot for Bellarmine students to use, but it’s a great place for faculty, too. Kyle Barnett, a communication professor, said he believes Bellarmine’s discovery of Sunergos has been interesting. He said it is “one of the few spots in which the neighborhood and the campus come together.”

Barnett also said that even with the rise of new coffee shops nearby on Bardstown Road, that he believes Bellarmine is most invested in Sunergos at present, and it likely will stay that way because of its convenience. Barnett goes to Sunergos so frequently that his daughter thought he was a barista there because he often would tell his wife: “I am going to go work at Sunergos this morning.”

Alex Moeller, a shift lead barista at Sunergos, said he consistently sees Bellarmine students and faculty at the Norris Place location. Although he can’t always tell whether customers are students, Moeller said it’s really common to see Bellarmine apparel in the coffee shop, which demonstrates the university's strong presence.
