Friday Night Live Series Kicks Off With Trivia Knight

Students prepare for Trivia Knight.

The Student Activities Center hosted the first Friday Night Live event of the semester, Trivia Knight, on January 14th. The first-place winners were the Wiz Kids with team members Emily Barz, Ellerie Heinzmann, Mia Osborne, Iris Cameron and Leah Simpson. Emily Barz said the win was “exhilarating.” The runners up were teams Ice Cream Funday and New Besties. All the winning teams earned Bellarmine goodies, and the Wiz Kids also received Baxter Avenue Theaters movie tickets.

The competition included five categories with questions about Harry Potter, ‘Twilight,’ Disney, Marvel, and 2000s music and movie questions. These five categories brought a crowd of 75 to the event because there were fanatics for each category. This was the largest turnout for a Friday Night Live event since last spring.

Interim Assistant Director of Student Activities Center Kaitlyn Nally opened the event by saying, “Last semester, we only had about 20 people on average come to these events, so this is a great turnout.”

This event excited a lot of people and brought out their competitive sides. Iris Cameron, a first-year student, said she was confident her team would win.

“We’ll win because I can quote all of the ‘Twilight’ movies,” she said. Cameron was on the Wiz Kids team.

Others came out to the event just for fun. “I know a lot about Disney and Harry Potter,” first-year student Anna Heilers said.

There were an estimated 30 commuters who attended. Sophomore Leah Simpson was invited by her friends. She said, “I showed up for friendly competition and to play with friends.”

The night was full of friendly competition, but students were also aggressive. “It was chaotic,” Sydney Henderson said in describing how students rushed to the front to turn in their teams' answers first.

The next Friday Night Live event is Murder Mystery Night. It will be in Frazier Hall from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday.
