Neighborhood cat becomes campus cat

By Samuel Hebestreit

Bellarmine is not only loved by students, but also by KitKat, a grey cat with a teal collar who is often seen roaming campus.

KitKat wasn’t much of an outdoor cat until one day something happened, said her owners Ebonee and Will Nimocks.

“KitKat started out as an indoor cat until she literally ripped a hole in the bathroom screen to get outside, so we knew then we couldn’t keep her indoors. We had to let her go explore,” Ebonee Nimocks said.

KitKat spends her days roaming BU’s campus looking for attention, making frequent pit stops at home for food.

“She thoroughly enjoys being there and visiting with you all. She comes home when she gets hungry, then she comes back and visits you all again,” Ebonee Nimocks said.

Not only does KitKat love to be on campus, but some students said they love having her on campus as well.

“I think on behalf of all students, we’re very stressed, so I think it's good to have a cat roaming around to help cheer us up. So, I think it’s pretty good. It lifts everybody up,” BU junior Ryan Kleine-Kracht said.

BU junior Sam Bowles said: “I love it. I mean I love animals personally so the fact that there’s an animal that’s almost like a student around here, I think is great.”

The owners said they didn’t realize how much students love KitKat.

“We didn’t realize she was this big of a part of campus. Thank you all for taking such good care of her. We really appreciate it,” Ebonee Nimocks said.
