Bellarmine students are days away from finals, which means many Louisville residents and local students get to relax and explore the city for three weeks. Louisville has many exciting winter activities to offer its community, from concerts to Christmas light shows to performing arts shows.

For music lovers, especially those of the hip-hop genre, a perfect way to celebrate the end of a busy semester is to unwind at a show on Jack Harlow’s No Place Like Home Tour, taking place across five iconic music venues from Dec. 14 to 18.

The two-time Grammy-nominated Louisville native is paying homage to his city with five shows, one of which is taking place at Zanzabar. The venue is loved by college students across the city, and fans have multiple chances to win tickets by following the venue’s Instagram and Jack Harlow’s Instagram.

The Grammy-winning acapella group Pentatonix will be performing at the KFC Yum! Center, located at 1 Arena Plaza, on Dec. 11, as part of their Christmas tour. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

Rock fans can catch Oldham County’s hardcore punk band Knocked Loose at the Mercury Ballroom on Dec. 3, along with classic rock band Blue Öyster Cult at the Brown Theatre on Dec. 4.

The performing arts scene is as vibrant as ever in Louisville this year, and several theatres in will be hosting Christmas plays and ballet performances.

Whitney Hall in the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts is presenting the Nutcracker, sponsored by Brown-Forman from Dec. 11 to 23. Tickets are available for purchase on the Louisville Ballet’s website.

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts’ website states the Kentucky Center and the Brown Theatre are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (PCR test) taken within 72 hours of the performance time or an Antigen test taken within 24 hours of the performance time.

Due to Covid, Actors Theatre will not be allowing guests in its theatre for live performances. Instead, the venue is combining the magic of live performance with virtual reality (VR) for its adaptation of A Christmas Carol: Scrooge’s Ghost Encounter. More information is available on Actors Theatre’s website regarding how to purchase tickets, which VR headset to use and what app to download for this transformative experience.

Those looking to capture the merry and bright spirit of Christmas with friends and family can sit back and relax through a 30-minute drive through Iroquois Park’s colorful Winter Woods Spectacular or the Mega Cavern’s Lights Under Louisville shows. Tickets for Winter Woods Spectacular are available for purchase on the event’s website. Tickets for Lights Under Louisville are available for purchase on Eventbrite.
