Eat-A-Pita…and a kabob…and baklava

By Leah Wilkinson

If you are looking for a delicious and inexpensive lunch or dinner, look no further than Eat-A-Pita, a cozy Mediterranean restaurant less than a mile from Bellarmine’s campus.

Located at 2286 Bardstown Road in the heart of the Highlands, the tasty establishment is within ideal distance for a walk or jog.

The close proximity to campus also prevents students from having to find a place to park, as the restaurant has only a few designated spaces.

Immediately after stepping through the doors, it becomes obvious that this isn’t the average Pita Pit.

Once inside, customers will find that everything is reasonably priced and packed with flavor. The menu also offers a wide variety of meals suitable for dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten-free options.

Dishes include mouth-watering baklava and savory kabobs, as well as standard pitas. The taziki and tahini sauces go perfectly with any meal, and the Zeus’ fries are a customer favorite (and as close as one can get to “liquid gold,” as the menu mentions).

The menu includes many lighter options as well, so those who may not be looking to feel filled to the brim with food are in good hands.

The pillow-lined, wall-length seating gives customers a laid back vibe while dining, and the televisions are always sharing the latest news, so customers don’t have to worry about missing headlines and whipping out their phones to check the news during meals.

Customers may also choose to play a board or card game while awaiting their orders.

The charming yet casual interior is suitable for a wide variety of eating scenarios: solo feasts, meals with children, interviews, business-related meet-ups, and of course, the traditional lunch or dinner with friends or family.

The restaurant also provides catering, as well as online orders through doordash.com, orderspoon.com, postmates.com and grubhub.com.

Eat-A-Pita is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
